Window Live Messenger Crashes
Greetings Paul,
You could try completely removing your contact cache store. To do so, shut down Messenger, then clicking Start, then Run, type: %appdata%\Microsoft Right-click the MSN Messenger folder and choose Delete. Then restart Messenger and see if the problem has been corrected. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger/Windows Live Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com All posts unless otherwise specified are (c) 2006 Jonathan Kay. Sorry Jonathan,
I tried what you suggested and it's still doing the same thing. Thanks Paul "Jonathan Kay [MVP]" wrote: Greetings Paul, You could try completely removing your contact cache store. Window Live Messenger Crashes
I have been having the same problem, Messenger Live logs into the
service, then it freezes as soon as I click anywhere in the program. Tried deleting the client cache but it did not resolve the problem. Interestingly, if I unplug my network cable, messenger unfreezes and will re-login if I reconnect the cable, but again, as soon as I click anywhere in the program it freezes again. Try disabling MDM, it worked for me. Event Viewer kept on showing a dcom
error whenever I had this problem or when I'd try loading up the Services window and get a 2 minute delay before it appeared. Once I disabled debugging, the problems all went away. In IE, go to Internet Options-Advanced Tab-Disable Script Debugging(check this, or both if there are two types) and it should hopefully work for you like it did me. Window Live Messenger Crashes
Hi,
I tried disabling MDM and the script debugging boxes are already ticked. So I checked the error loggs and this is what it says for the error: The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Windows Live Messenger ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: msnmsgr.exe, 8.0.792.0, 4493215b, ieframe.dll, 7.0.5346.5, 443f4164, 0, 000c3094. Not sure if that means anything to anybody. Is there any way that it could be stopped from running other than in the registry as I have checked there and it isn't dissabled, Windows Messenger still works Thanks Paul "Moatman" wrote: Try disabling MDM, it worked for me. I had this issue and corrected it via upgrading from IE7 to IE8. I think it was a corrupt file that was causing this as IE itself was also showing error messages and 'needing to close'. If you are already on IE8, perhaps reinstall it, and if not, then upgrade. Worked for me. -- streeti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ streeti's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/160918.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-messenger/538228.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
