Default Access denied

I am trying to access my docs on a HDD that I slaved, I changed the ownership
of the folder to the administrators group that my account belongs I applied
my full control permissions to all the folders, sub folders and files. I
checked the Inherit from parent the permission entries that apply to child
object. However, why do some some folders and files prompt me access denied
as Explorer progresses through the files,
For instance, I can't copy some files and sub folders from the My Documents
folder.
even if I have gained access to most folders within My Docs.

Did you disable Simple File Sharing first ?

If you are using Windows XP Professional, you must disable Simple File Sharing. By default, Windows XP
Professional uses Simple File sharing when it is not joined to a domain.
