Windows XP is written in specific language versions, therefore one
cannot change it from one language version to another. You'll need to purchase a "Full Version" of Windows XP in the language version you desire, reformat your drive and install it "clean". Or if you have an available empty drive or partition, you can install another "Full Version" of Windows XP in a different language version and create a dual-boot configuration. The OP can clean install an OEM version too. I recently installed an OEM
version on what used to be an HP that I bought five years ago. Works like a dream and it activated with no problems at all. Oh, and I didn't buy any hardware with the XP OEM. -- Alias Use the Reply to Sender feature of your news reader program to email me. Utiliza Responder al Remitente para mandarme un mail. OEM version are forever tied to the FIRST PC it is installed onto. You were
not entitled to move the HP OEM version. The only recourse the OP has is the full retail version. "Alias" wrote in message ... The OP can clean install an OEM version too. I bought a NEW OEM that had never been installed on any machine and installed it on an OLD HP. I did *not* move an OEM from one machine to another. I bought the OEM at a national computer chain in Spain. In Spain, one does NOT have to buy hardware to buy an OEM XP, be it Pro or Home. Also, most retail stores in Spain do not even carry retail versions due to the lack of demand I suppose (who would want to pay extra for the same thing?). If you don't believe me and you can read Spanish, please visit these two national computer chain stores and see if you can find a retail version of *any* MS OS: http://www.appinformatica.com/ and http://www.pcbox.es/ -- Alias Use the Reply to Sender feature of your news reader program to email me. No, this isn't at all correct. Nobody said anything about moving a version, and besides, the fact that an OEM version can't be moved is irrelevant. If he wants a version in English, he has to buy and clean install an English version. He can use a Full version, obviously. If he owns a previous qualifying version, he can use an Upgrade version. And he can use an OEM version. Once installed on this computer, that OEM version can't be moved to another computer, but that doesn't prevent him from installing it on this one. The rules for buying an OEM version are that he has to buy it with hardware, but any piece of hardware, not just a complete computer, suffices. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup "Alias" wrote in message ...
