So it's easy to spot, as it is right before the four partition entries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_boot_record In my hex editor (editing the archived MBR sector), I see 1B8 A1 84 9D 80 and in Diskpart "detail disk" I see Disk ID: 80 9D 84 A1 so you have to be careful when looking at it from a tools perspective.
