Default Restoring files after installing new hard disk.

After 3 years, my windows software isn't working well and my original restore
files have been deleted. Also, prior to reinstalling windows, I am intending
to purchase a new hard disk to replace the one that contains my Windows XP
files and my restore partition. My question is: If I replace the hard disk
with a different model can I still use the original windows restore files
(being sent to me by the computer mfg.) to get windows up and operating, or
do I have to purchase a new Windows XP disk and start from scratch??

Default ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING THIS QUESTION

Please read "restore" as "recovery" in the original question. What I am
looking to do is to "recover", not "restore" my original system files after
installing a new hard disk. The PC manufacturer is sending me the recovery
disks for the original computer.
