Default [Solved]: weird mouse pointer freeze up

Hi All,

I have swapped this mouse with another mouse and the problem
follows the computer not the mouse.

Problem: the mouse pointer will occasionally "stick" (no
movement) for about 10 seconds.

Weird symptom 1: when the mouse pointer sticks,
if I (blindly) move the mouse over pop up bubbles and menues,
the bubbles and menus activate.

Weird symptom 2: if I press the "Windows key" on the keyboard,
I instantly get my mouse point back.

How in the world does one go about troubleshooting this?

Many thanks,
-T

Finally figured this out. Turned off Diskeeper's automatic
defrag and happy camping has resumed. Thank you all for the
tips you gave me on the original post.

You can tell diskkeeper to defrag at specific times. It sounds like you had
it in idle mode, so it when the comp wasn't used for X seconds it began
working.

You don't need that kind of defrag regime, unless you are running some kind
of server.

BTW, I have seem this kind of behaviour with some spyware.
