This question has probably already been answered over-and-over again,
but my kneejerk reaction is "What's in it for Microsoft?"..... and the
corollary thought that whatever it is, it can't be good for the user.

Like all businesses, Microsoft is committed to try to make a profit for
it's shareholders. Windows 10 appears to be the best attempt by the
company to be in a win/win situation where the company makes money and
customers are satisfied with the product.

Whatever.

4. It's free

Not really. What about those ads?

5. Better access to data

Yes, user data to Microsoft.

Interesting comments, JJ! :-)

With less than one month to go before Microsoft ends its current offer for
Windows 7 and 8 users to upgrade to Windows 10 for free, you may be
wondering whether it's time to make the switch.

While you may be wary of Windows 10's less celebrated features, there are
arguments for choosing Windows 10. Here are five of the most compelling.

Apple fills the niche. Allows people who aren't tech savvy to be able
to get stuff done, without having to know the pesky details of how
it's being done. With that said, Some of us do not require hand
holding.

It reminds me of a modern day cashier. When the cash register goes
down, or, you give them additional change to make sure you get bills
back and no change, they seem lost quick. That's what happens when
you dismiss teaching how simple math works and instead, teach them to
just rely on the machine. No need to know how the calculator reached
the results it did, right? [g]

That's yet another difference between a script kiddie/programmer and
a coder. One understands what his/her code is actually doing, the
other.. only knows if they type this or that, it'll do this or that;
but they don't actually know HOW it's doing it. And, stupidity, they
are okay with the lack of knowledge.

How much do you know about your beloved companys products David?

http://picpaste.com/WZt1nW6L.jpg

Do you know what that is? I replaced a component inside of it for a
client, sometime back. When I got it open and took a look around, I
determined it's seriously way over priced for what it is and what it
can do; as compared to any decent PC based laptop, that is. It's just
as fragile (if not more so in some aspects) than a typical PC based
laptop too. Go ahead, snoop the exif data... [g] It's been sanitized,
from a console session using a simple program I wrote in ASIC. ROFL.

Can you even tell which component was replaced? I'm rather proud of
my work, you see. The pic shows the results after component
replacement. Zoom in, has impressive detail. See if you can determine
which component was changed out. Btw, it's MUCH cheaper to buy
replacement parts for it from places other than Apple. The last time
I heard of that component costing that kind of money was when they
were brand spanking new a long ass time ago, at that.

I don't know how Apple justifies the prices for their components, I
really don't. I didn't think it was too spiffy of them to use non
standard screws, either. I had to purchase a set of new tools just to
open the case on the damn thing. I've yet to use those tools again.
You just don't run across that crap much in the PC world. Good thing
I like buying tools though. Even if I don't have a real use for them.

I *know* for a fact you're a stalker who isn't straight forward in
almost every aspect. You're out for you and only you. You abuse people,
you stalk them, you try and stalk their relatives. You abuse obituary
posts! to accomplish the goal whenever possible. You make pondscum look

Actually, hackers who are stuck in Windows prefer Windows XP
because it supports raw socket - which makes packet crafting much
easier. Vista and newer no longer have that capability.

Linux does too. I wouldn't say hackers are 'stuck' with XP, either.
Some of us prefer it over the later more bloated editions with eye
candy. As for Windows 7 atleast, raw sockets are still possible,
although MS highly discourages it.

I suspect it's a MacBook Pro - but I don't have one.

At a guess, I's say you changed the fan in the centre of the device
and/or the battery!
