Blango's not really that bad. Not sure why they always get singled out.

Existed? Yes. I didn't say it didn't. I used the word "prevalent,"
not "existed." Few people had an e-mail account before the 1990s, and
it wasn't until the turn of the century before it could be said that
it was common.

email was very common well before that.

We differ greatly.

Why'd you install it in the first place if you weren't going to use it?
It's a pretty obscure and one-task piece of software.

I have a great idea: get rid of your computer(s) altogether!!!1! Then no
one will be able to find you or ... oh, wait, you have some fillings in

Mostly because the aliens from planet Whisnog posted a "fact" on
Wikipedia that the Blangoians were always spying on everyone else. ;-)

Those aren't fillings ... they're tracking devices implanted by aliens
posing as dentists. Luckily he has been abducted for experimentation
yet because the monsters under his bed keep scaring the aliens away at
night.

And please don't forget Daisy Wheels :-)

Right, thanks. I couldn't remember that term.

But my point remains. They are only on relatively modern typewriters,
not on most.

Still, I should get credit for reminding you of Daisy Wheel typewriters.

I'll settle for two gold stars.

What, my "thanks" wasn't enough? OK, you can have two gold stars. Have
a third, if you're still hungry.

Thanks. OK if I hold off the third one for a day? Gotta watch those
calories...

I'd say that changing fonts on striker key machines is possible, but
it's not a task to be undertaken lightly.

Of course, I probably should have said "possible, for some values of
'possible'" :-)

Here are a couple of links that a

1. Vaguely relevant to changing fonts on a typewriter

2. All that I could find in a reasonable time

3. Supportive of my remark "it's not a task to be undertaken lightly"

A. If I understand it correctly (not assured), this is a patent for
actually changing a key:

http://www.google.com/patents/US3349889

There are numerous typos in the article, but it becomes clear that it
doesn't snap over a key, but instead is clipped onto the type guide
before the ribbon, so any key can be used to strike it. Obviously you'd
need one of these for every added character.

I wouldn't want to use this scheme to type a document with more than a
trivial number of special characters in it.

B. This is a way to get a typewriter with your desired keys:

http://tinyurl.com/n8prsrs

I don't know what choices were available. Clearly no other fonts were
available, because all they did was to provide 6 extra keys of your
choice.

I used TinyURL because the link was about two furlongs long.

Here's my summary of what I have discovered for reducing entropy in the
specific items that are reported by panopticlick.eff.org (with your help).
================================================== ==========================
We can now reduce entropy for all the items reported by Panopticlick
1. User Agent
2. HTTP_ACCEPT Headers
3. Browser Plugin Details
4. Time Zone
5. Screen Size and Color Depth
6. System Fonts
7. Are Cookies Enabled?
8. Limited supercookie test
================================================== ==========================
1. Panopticlick User Agent entropy:
SecretAgent extension https://www.dephormation.org.uk
UserAgentSwitcher extension http://chrispederick.com/work/user-agent-switcher
================================================== ==========================
2. Panopticlick HTTP_ACCEPT Headers entropy:
RandomAgentSpoofer extension https://github.com/dillbyrne/random-agent-spoofer
================================================== ==========================
3. Panopticlick Browser Plugin Details entropy:
Extensions are OK but do NOT add Plug-ins (which will affect entropy)
================================================== ==========================
4. Panopticlick TimeZone entropy:
This pops up Panopticlick.eff.org with a different time zone:
$ TZ=CET-1 firefox -url panopticlick.eff.org &
$ TZ=UTC+08:00 firefox -url panopticlick.eff.org &
$ TZ=UTC+5 firefox -url panopticlick.eff.org &
================================================== ==========================
5. Panopticlick Screen Size & Color Depth entropy:
Too bad xrandr can only increase the size of the display (not decrease it):
$ xrandr --output DISPLAY --fb 1366x768
================================================== ==========================
6. Panopticlick System Fonts entropy:
NoScript extension extension https://noscript.net

$ locate fonts.dir
(remove any oddball directory that is not generally found)
================================================== ==========================
7. Panopticlick Are Cookies Enabled? entropy:
Self-Destructing Cookies https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...ucting-cookies
================================================== ==========================
8. Panoptoclick Limited supercookie test entropy:
Foundstone HTML5 Local Storage Explorer http://www.foundstone.com
================================================== ==========================
Encrypt web pages that are not encrypted:
HTTPS Everywhere https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere
================================================== ==========================
That last item is new to me, but, it seems useful if I can figure out how
to get it to encrypt non-encrypted sites, such as www.google.com.

It's actually far easier than that.
If your browser signature is unique, then you can be tracked anywhere.
No matter what IP or ISP or country you are logging in from.
