How do I create a roaming profile?
In
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314478 It says: To create a roaming profile, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu that appears. 2. Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under User Profiles. 3. In the Profiles stored on this computer list, click the profile that you want. 4. To change the type of profile, click Change Type, click Roaming profile, and then click OK. When I do this, I can't change type to roaming (gray 'ed out). Why? Duke |

Is this computer a domain member workstation? No Then you can't have roaming profiles. A roaming profile is so that a worker can sit down at any workstation in the domain and get his/her own profile. Since you don't have a server and a domain, this isn't applicable to you. Perhaps if you told us your end goal we might be able to suggest something else that would meet your needs. Malke Sorry 'bout that. From time to time in the past I have wanted to create another user and start off that user with another user's profile. So, I basically want to copy one profile to another. The cited web site tells how to do it, but I can't because the 'copy to' button is gray'ed out. So how do I do what I want to do? Thanks Duke |

You're probably forgetting to log into the new account once so the profile folders are created. You also must do the copying work while you are logged into a user account that is *not* the one you are copying *from* or *to*.
