Jerky video viewing
Video viewing with WMP and Real Player has become very jerky. At first I
thought it was just streamed content, but it's the same with every video file I have - picture freezing and unfreezing every few seconds, the sound OK. I downloaded the latest driver for my graphics controller (Intel 82852/82855) but when I try to install it, it says it cannot be installed on my computer. Would anyone have any ideas? I'm running Windows XP Home, have plenty of disk space, have removed all unnecessary programs and done full virus and spyware checks. TIA, Ian -- |

... And do you have a lot of other programs running in the background? Programs, no, but looking in Task Manager there are a lot of processes running but nothing out of the ordinary - virus protection, firewall and so on. It's a bit of a puzzle and I'm grateful for your input. Ian |

Do any of them take up a lot of memory? By clicking on the top of each
column, you can sort by Process (alphabetical) or Mem Usage.... Right now I have 62 Processes running (from all Users) and the CPU Usage is showing a mere 4%. It's a 3Ghz P4 with HT and 1gb RAM. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Client - Printing & Imaging www.coribright.com/Windows "Ian F." wrote in message ... "Cari (MS-MVP)" wrote in message ... I have 42 processes running, using between 3% and 10% of the CPU, depending on when you look. I have 512mb of RAM, 2.8Ghz P4. Ian |

If you can go to 1gb of RAM, things would be better, how much video RAM do
you have? -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Client - Printing & Imaging www.coribright.com/Windows "Ian F." wrote in message ... I have 42 processes running, using between 3% and 10% of the CPU, depending on when you look. I have 512mb of RAM, 2.8Ghz P4. Ian |

Again, more would be better. I know I can (sort of) play a DVD on my
ancient notebook which has 384mg of RAM and only 16mb (dedicated) of graphics RAM but only when I am not using anything else. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Client - Printing & Imaging www.coribright.com/Windows "Ian F." wrote in message ...
