I dumped the Microsoft noneworkig Solitaire collection and installed the Windows 7 games as you suggested, Everything is working fine now plus I have extra games which I did not have before. I thank my lucky stars that they made it. Even when the full Solitaire game works, it's not the same. I pull Solitaire or Minesweeper up when I'm on hold to kill the time. The Windows 7 versions are perfect for this, the Windows Store versions are just slightly too elaborate for a trivially quick game. So good on WinAero. They've got every wrinkle settled except for the fact that MS *still* uninstalls them every time you do a major update. I've been through at least two major updates and the Win 7 games haven't been affected so far. I usually upgrade from an MCT DVD rather than letting Windows Update do it. Maybe that's the difference? Other thoughts: 64-bit? U.S. thing? It's a minor annoyance TBS. It's really easy to just reinstall them, and the Start tiles reappear as soon as I do that. I let WU do the upgrades. 64bit and US, yes. As for Start tiles, I can't say that I've ever seen them. I don't use that part of Windows 10 at all. |
