"Setup did not find any hard disk drives" during Windows XP installation

My mother got a virus on her laptop, a Compaq Presario C306US. Long story short, I ran dban and wiped the hard drive. Even before using dban (i.e. when windows was still installed, and was able to boot correctly) whenever I went into XP setup, I couldn't install XP; it gave me an error message. The message is:

"Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer.

Make sure and hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program."

My hard-drive is a SATA, Fujitsu MHV2080BH to be exact. I found a diagnostic tool from Fujitsu, it runs in command prompt format (sorry idk what the correct terminology is for that lol). Problem is, I can't use it, since the OS is gone, and I can't install another one.

I google'd this problem and there was much information on it, but I've tried quite a few ways (even threw my Ubuntu Live CD in there, hoping GParted would work, it did not...) and I have been unsuccessful =/

SOLVED:

1) Went into BIOS (F10/Phoenix Systems, for me)

2) Went to the "System Configuration" tab

3) DISABLE "SATA NATIVE"

4) Reboot

5) Inserted XP CD -

6) Found C drive.

7) Became very jolly =D
