Fax Recognition

Apparently the question is not about Distinctive Ring, but about Ad=
aptive Answer.

Meaning - that the fax/voice call discrimination is performed not a=
t the moment of ringing, but after picking up the phone.

Some fax machines have such capability. Such machine picks up the p=
hone, and, if there is no fax signal from calling side, it begins t=
o emulate rings with its internal speaker, thus inviting user to ta=
ke the handset.

Depending on model, modems can or cannot support Adaptive Answer. T=
he problem is that MS Fax software supplied with Windows OS does no=
t support it.

So, to solve the problem, you should search either appropriate thir=
d-party fax software, or fax machine with Adaptive Answer feature.
