Default Headset setup gives error, help needed

plz help me people
-----Original Message-----
Just bought a labtec headset(the 712 one) and its "plug
and play" with an usb connection.

I plugged and i played fine, but...

When i got to open the control panel (windows XP Pro) a
pop up appears saying if i want to set the maximum
settings for gaming performance, etc go to sound ,etc
etc..and so forth...

all the options in the sound and audio and voice tabs
(basically everything) is put to full...yet i still get
this annoying pop up.

Secondly i tryed to test the hardware in the voice tab
and it gave me an error:
" An error occured during DirectPlay Voice setup.
the error code is 0x80004001"

then i press okay and i get:
" Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe, use Add/Remove
Programs control panel to install."

then i click okay again and it goes away.

I can hear well with these and the mic seems to be
working since i can record with the windows recorder
program just fine.

I tried to contact Labtec's support but they know about
this , at this moment, even less then me so its useless.
Any of you guys know how i can fix this? Thanx
.
