One way is to right click on the one you want on the desktop and choose open file location. Now right click and hold down the click and drag it to the desktop. And select create a shortcut. -- Bill Gateway M465e ('06 era) - Thunderbird v12 Centrino Core2 Duo T7400 2.16 GHz - 4GB - Windows 8 |

shortcut on desktop
As Bill noted a variety of routes are available to accomplish adding a shortcut to the Desktop
Another similar route without a drag and drop Rt click on the shortcut on the Win8 Modern UI Start Screen (fka Metro) to reveal the StartScreen tool bar, click on 'Open File Location', rt click the shortcut and scroll down to SendTo and select Desktop (Create Shortcut). - Note: SendTo/Desktop (Create shortcut) is identical and a carryover from earlier Windows o/s. Optionally if you know the location of the program's executable (normally in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)...like above, rt click the executable and use the SendTo Desktop (Create shortcut) option. -- ....winston msft mvp "C@limero" wrote in message ...
