Default IP address very weird

Is WEP enabled? Make sure you have entered the correct
WEP encryption code to be able to connect to the wireless
network.

Hope this helps,

Nick

Hello.
My laptop had a Dlink Airplus G card and seing as the signal has been so poor I decided to uninstall it and then install a dlink G+ card instead (which i had spare).
Since then it show enabled ok, but the IP address doesn't follow from any of the networks and the subnet says 255.255.0.0 instead of 255.255.255.0
Plus there is no Default gateway. I've tried reinstalling it. I've done ipconfig /release and renew. but still no change.
I've done the Network Wizard 3 times. Still no change.
If I choose 'Use the following IP address' enter a correct IP address, subnet and default gateway, I can only access the network and not the interent.
Pleeeeeeeeese help.
All XP, All no firewalls disabled.

Is the IP address 169.254.x.x? If so, it means that the wireless card
can't connect to your router. Check the wireless settings (SSID, WEP,
etc), and make sure that they're right.
