Default Cable internet conection sharing

I have followed all the instructions on the Network Setup Wizard, I´m trying
to share an internet conection on 2 Pc´s.
-The cable modem is conected to my desktop via USB. And is working properly.
-Next I have conected my desktop to my laptop via ethernet directly one to
the other.
-On the network connections appears on both Local Area Connection Network
cable unpluged (but there is the cable plugged on both.

Thxs In advance.,

Hi,

On your Desktop to Laptop ethernet cable is that ethernet cable a cross-over
cable or a straight through cable? Does the green LED light up when you
connnect the cable between the two machines?
