Default Hibernation Problem

When ever I try to hibernate my desktop computer, it does not power
off itself. Instead it hibernates and the screen goes blank (no error
shown) but the computer is still turned on, not like regular power
off... when I tried to resume by pressing power button it resumed my
XP like normal hibernation...
Cant figure out why it does not power off.
My configuration is ASUS 945 x86 intel P4 2gigs RAM etc.
Any help?
