Need "mute" button!
As I come across more and more sites with spoken Flash ads, I find a
need for a "mute" button to switch the sound on and off. I can do it by popping up the sound mixer box and clicking on the speaker icon, but I'd like to do that in one operation from a shortcut on the taskbar. Any ideas? -- Crash "Facts are stubborn things, but statistics are more pliable." ~ Laurence J. Peter ~ |

It's written primarily for XP but in the comments they say it also works with Vista, making me think it may also work in 7. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/create-a-shortcut-or-hotkey-to-mute-the-system-volume-in-windows/ They talk about creating a shortcut and assigning it to a hotkey, but if you prefer to use the shortcut directly you could just skip the assignment to a hotkey. I am using the 64 bit version on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with a shortcut as described. It works as advertised. I skipped the hotkey. I rarely use them. -- Crash "Facts are stubborn things, but statistics are more pliable." ~ Laurence J. Peter ~ |

Thanks for the tip. |
