Default Drive identification

Hi,

there are 3 hardrives installed, C, D and E and I would like to know
which hardware is assiciated with each letter.

Can I find thsi out this with windows onboard tools?

Try Settings Devices

Then scroll down to find Device Manager. Click on it and you will see
your HDs listed in one of the devices. It won't tell you whether it is
C, D, or E but it will tell you the make and model of the HD. You can
then identify from it.

Another way is to launch your File Explorer/ Windows Explorer and then
go to: This PC. On the right-hand-side you will see all your attached
drives. Right-Click on them one by one and then choose Properties. Then
Hardware. This should tell you something about your drive(s).

You can name the drives in properties.
I have given simple names to to my several drives to distinguish them.
STANDARD
INTEL
BACKUP BIG
PRIVATE
LIBRARY
BU SMALL
LaCie
MOVIES

etc

You can name the drives in Explorer, too. Right click - Rename. That's
because the "drives" are really partitions, which are really folders.


Also, if you need the label on the top of the HDD casing, it's in:

Computer Management / Disk Management / (select disk) Properties/
General.
