tip: unable to pin to task bar
Hi All,
I had to screw around with a customer's compter that would not allow him to drag or context clip "pin to taskbar" or "pin to start menu". There are plenty off fixes out there for this, but none worked. Mostly they were M$ articles with basically told yo how to do it, not how to fix it.f Some gpedit solutions and some registry solutions. And a lot o "You dummy! This is how you do it!" Anyway, after considerable research, I came up with the following, and it finally worked. -T Unable To "Pin To Taskbar" and "Pin to Start Menu": Windows Registry fix: There are other causes, but this fixes the ones I am seeing: Rename the both following keys (*.000 or *.orig): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\FileAssociation\AddRemoveNames and (64 bit machines only) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\FileAssociation\Ad dRemoveNames then do a real REBOOT to get them to take: shutdown /r /f /t 00 |

I even checked the group policies and the locked task bar registry settings. I went through all the M$ HowTo's on the subject and then some. Learn to read and watch the name calling. |
