You are some sort of moron, as all this had been done, and yet the
technical guys at microsoft still could not fix it so get off your
high horse of how I spell and shut the hell up if you have nothing
informative to say (This is not an english class!)

amazed by the fob offs saying that it was not there problem it must be
another program which is causing it, however I was only installing SP2
everything else worked before.

All Micro$oft want is a monopoly and do not care about there users and

Well I stick two fingers up at Micro$oft and will not be installing
SP2 until they have a finished piece of work

You are a moron of the highest order. You can't even spell "I have know idea
[/sic/]" means you do because the word "know" means "to have knowledge of".

So, you blamed MS for the problems instead of doing what you should have
done and PREPARED YOUR SYSTEM(S) BEFORE INSTALLATION!!

I hope your boss reads this and fires you on the spot!

Fail to prepare - prepare to fail. You didn't follow the Six Step Plan, you
just ploughed on in and installed, didn't you?!

1) Defrag the hard drive(s)
2) Run a systemwide virus scan
3) Run a systemwide spyware scan
4) Update all your drivers
5) Update your software
6) Turn off AVP before installation.

Not MS's problem if you have no common sense! Or just no sense, full stop!

SP-2 was possibly tested more than any other piece of software has in
the past.
Exactly what do you mean by the above statement?
How many windows XP computers in the world?
Now factor in that no two are identical.
How does Microsoft or anyone for that matter test something as big as
a Service Pack on all possible combinations?
Can not be done, impossible.

"I am an IT manager"
Really?
Then SP-2 should have had no surprises to you since your organization
has been testing SP-2 for at least several months to check for
compatibility issues.

"I am now thinking of not even bothering as it is more bother than it
is worth."
Fine, it is your computer.
But you make it sound like you are punishing Microsoft.
How is that?

"...that they may have non micro$oft software aswell on their
machine."
Nothing wrong with non Microsoft software as long as it is well
written.
For years software has been written taking advantage of what are now
vulnerabilities.
Microsoft has taken a big step and followed the demands of the IT
community to make Windows more secure.

Did you at least have a clean computer?
Was the computer ready for Windows XP?
Since your rant gave no details, it is impossible to know.

You cannot spell. You cannot create a grammatically correct sentence. You
cannot follow the basic instructions for installing SP2. Your computer is
not properly maintained...and you say Microsoft produced an unfinished piece
of work? Then you try to pass yourself off as an IT person? Let's
review...
1. Can't spell.
2. Doesn't know the difference between "know" and "no" (i.e. I have know
idea).
3. Lies about being an IT manager (a real IT person would have backed up
*BEFORE* undertaking any service pack.
4. Cannot even muster up a decent rebuttal when slammed.

I agree with anonymous...You are in serious need of a life...

BTW, does it hurt walking around with that huge "L" stuck to your forehead?

How well can you do either - say, in Russian?
English isn't everyone's first language...

I think MS released SP2 knowing that it was a bunch of junk.
Now I have to haul my PC to the shop and PAY to have it fixed.

Wayne;
Having a new computer says nothing about compatibility issues and very
little about the computer being clean unless you attempted to install
SP-2 the very first thing out of the box.

MS killed your burner. Nothing to do with you at all, MS caused it.

Gee, I wonder why, on all the machines on which I have installed SP2, I
haven't had a single problem even to the point of a tax agent sending in tax
returns through a VPN to the tax dept? Maybe because I thought ahead and
made sure? Possibly. Maybe because SP2 doesn't really cause the problems so
much as people without a clue who really cause most problems? More than
likely!

If I remember (great possibility NOT!), the OP is referring to the rule
that sentences aren't supposed to end with a preposition.

Winston Churchill's response when asked whether he thought it proper to
end a sentence with a preposition: "It is something up with which I
will not put."

Herb;

Winston Churchill had a remarkable sense of humor which served him well
during the darkness of WWII.
