Choosing a port to print
Normally, you specify a name of printer to open when start printing. The
printer is a printer driver + port. Sysadmin is allowed to change the ports for existing printers, yeilding new print configurations. It would be great to create those configurations temporaryly-dynamically at runtime not affecting the static configurations. For instance, instead printer name you specify the full path: printer name + "," + prot name. Is there a way to do this? |

Choosing a port to print
I don't really know what you mean or what you are trying to achieve.
If it is a network printer, an administrator can change the port on the server at any time, and it will take immediate effect. Also, printer pooling can be used to associate a printer with multiple ports. Paul "valentin tihomirov" wrote in message ... Normally, you specify a name of printer to open when start printing. Choosing a port to print
Please excuse me my incapability to express the ideas. The idea to choose a
port for a printer. A program wants to print on thit printer and direct the output to that port. It constructs the chain: printer - port dynamically without affecting system configuration. |
