Default How can I post in OE?

To answer your question, I subscribe to different NNTP servers for different
contents. For example one NNTP is msnews.microsoft.com, another
news.abcdef.com, third news.blahblah.net, then I subscribe to three NNTP
servers. Is there another way to do so? I want to know how to do that.

In a truely basic / simple system, you would make one account for news.
Use whatever works, and the server would be your ISP. Or whatever
your ISP dones out. I have verizon and I of course use
news.verizon.net. And I have to login etc as its not a free server.
Once connected you just download all the groups and pick as many as you
want. I have 12 text groups. They all are in one account under one
NNTP server.

There is no reason not to do what you are doing. Name changes is
obvious reason, direct access to msnews.microsoft.com is another. You
can even buy service from NNTP services other than your ISP and make an
account for that. Verizon has a horrible retention rate, about 5-7
days. So if I want to read history going back 20 days, I would have to
use something else other than my ISP.
On the other hand, Verizon has 0.verizon.x.x.x groups that are strictly
for internal conversation about Verizon issues. Like announcements,
discussion, Q&A about FIOS, suggestion box etc.

HTH.

To subscribe each of them I give the same fake user info including user name
and email, because I think they are just informational and I don't want to
reveal my personal info.

For me, my ISP only offers me the Internet connection.

I want to diagnostic why my posts to MS NNTP vanish.

Try re-doing your fake address so that domain name is correct and only your

Also, make sure that you have a correct e-mail address and password in the
property settings in your MAIL account. Do you have any problems sending or

No. It first appears in Outbox, then in 1-2 seconds goes to Sent box. But I
never see it appear in newgroup thenafter. I tried many times on different

which I cannot post, but for that newsgroup message stays in Outbox and I
get
failure notice. For this microsoft one, I never get failure but it just
doesn't appear. I can only do it on web.

Does it have anything to do with login? Because I use a fake email in OE.

The only other thing I can suggest is that you use msnews.microsoft.com

problem.
You need no login / password for msnews.

To David: I have checked my NNTP setting OK for MS NNTP. As it doesnt require
login there are not much to setup.

Yes, my ISP has most groups. I do not use msnews. However they only
keep messages a week or two best. Giganews, is what I would consider a
great news service and you pay for it. Now my ISP does not have the
groups they do. My ISP has 48,000+/- groups. Where I think there are
higher near 70,000 groups if not more.

If you have the issue you have, you probably have to make different NNTP
server accounts to get what you need. Its just one of lifes bitches.
I have free accounts with two 3rd party services, Motzarella and Teranews.

This is not necessarily true. Two is not tops, by any means. I, for
example, use *five* different news servers. One is provided by my ISP.
One is the Microsoft public server, msnews.microsoft.com, which I use
for these Microsoft news groups; although my ISP's server carries many
of these newsgroups too, it's faster and better to get them directly
from Microsoft. The other three are private servers that carry
newsgroups not available elsewhere.

Also note that the statement "You technically only need one, your ISP"
assumes that the ISP in question even provides a news server. That's
not always the case, and many people don't have that option. Even if
the ISP does provide a news server, it may be limited in some way
(such as how many or which newsgroups it provides) and many people
prefer to use a different server (even one they have to pay for)
instead.

It's difficult for me to answer that without seeing your system, but
clearly you have some setting or settings wrong.

Perhaps someone else can suggest what it might be.

This may help you = I cannot use msnewsgroups as an NNTP ; I must use my

It could be your fake address. Some ISPs will not accept any
outgoing mail
unless it's from their domain or if the e-mail client is not
configured
properly.

Try re-doing your fake address so that domain name is correct and
only your
user
name is fake.

Also, make sure that you have a correct e-mail address and password
in the
property settings in your MAIL account. Do you have any problems
sending or
receiving in the mail account? Don't forget that it's your ISP
that's sending
out newsgroup messages, so the MAIL settings have to be correct.

No. It first appears in Outbox, then in 1-2 seconds goes to Sent
box. But I
never see it appear in newgroup thenafter. I tried many times on
different
msnews.microsoft.com newsgroups. I do have other non-microsoft
newsgroup in
which I cannot post, but for that newsgroup message stays in
Outbox and I
get
failure notice. For this microsoft one, I never get failure but it
just
doesn't appear. I can only do it on web.

Does it have anything to do with login? Because I use a fake email
in OE.

Anything stuck in the Outbox?

Yes, I do use msnews.microsoft.com as a server.
When I 'reply group', or when I post a new message, the compose
screen
comes
up and it has a news group in the 'To:' box.
Thanks.

You are probably clicking "Reply" instead of "Reply Group".
Reply
sends
it
email.

I mean, in OE, it seems I have posted, message I write goes
to Sent
box,
there is no error. But it just doesn't appear even after one
day.

can't
reply or post. How should I set to be able to do so?
When you pick a message and hit 'reply group', the compose
screen comes
up. Does it have a news group in the "To:" box?

The only other thing I can suggest is that you use
msnews.microsoft.com
as a server and not your provider. Your ISP may have an update
problem.
You need no login / password for msnews.
