disk clean up not responding

I would appreciate if someone can help me. When I try to
clean my hard drive with disk clean up (cleanmgr.exe) it
does not respond and doesn't give me an error msg. i
have to use the Task Manager to end the process in order
to clean up my cpu. What could be casuing this? How can
I remove and reinstall it again?
