loading SP2 security center on bootup--takes awhile?
Since I have installed SP2 on Win XP Pro, I noticed on only ONE of my
computers that when Windows is rebooted, all of the tray icons appear besides my LAN/Wireless Network Connection icon. It takes a few minutes, and then the LAN connection icon appears. I deselected Security Center in MSCONFIG under the services tab, and the LAN icon appears right away when I reboot. I guess that the priorities of rebooting are set so your network connects and the icon for it appears after the security center loads. So what this means is... Why does the security center service take so long to load? I know it takes awhile to load on only ONE computer because like I said when I disabled it, the network connection icon appeared right away. Any help is needed! Thank you! |

It's probably checking for the presence of anti-virus, firewall, etc, and is
having some kind of trouble doing that quickly. -- Mark L. Ferguson (NOT an MS-MVP) marfers notes for windows xp http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/chatNotes.htm ..
