Unofficial Windows XP SP4?
Has anyone used this? If so, did you get to choose which specific updates
you wanted to install and which to skip? Note: I'm not recommending anything here, but was just wondering. But I don't think it gives you much choice, plus there is the issue of tricking XP Home into thinking it's the POS version of XP to get the updates, which, if I'm not mistaken, is the only way you can get XP updates, anymore. (for those who want them) There are several web pages on Windows XP SP4, but here is a good one: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/1711...indows-xp-sp4/ |

When I look at the updates I got after loading SP3, virtually all of them appear to fix things I never use. |

(for those who want them) For complicated reasons, I can't start my web browser right now, and I've never seen it called sp4 before, but I turned on the POS updates maybe a year ago. I forget much of this. Secutiy updates. Is there a list of updates, KB..exe files? Would the names of the files tell y ou what was updated or is it all numerica gibberish? At least I don't remember what I got. bit when I first did it, there were a couple dozen updates waiting, maybe as many as 40, but I could be wrong, but I definitely got updates. And I've had no problems. Not only that, now I can make sell candy, newspapers, subway tokens, and make change, and Windows handles it. Today I have about 6 pending and the're all about .net Framework4, which I just installed yesterday. So would I have gotten these updates anyhow? I guess so. (I only installed it because one version of Skype message record said it had to have it, and then after I got it, it said that I needed win7.. Ugh. Why didnt' it tell me all these things at the same time. Othe updates come because I have MS Office Word 2007, which I'm pretty sure came with the macine, which I'm pretty sure was first bought in 2007. Wouldnt' those updates come without POS? , There are several web pages on Windows XP SP4, but here is a good one: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/1711...indows-xp-sp4/ |
