I know how you feel. It's what they should do, but it's good to know
they're doing it.

I've been using xp while travelling almost a month now, and probably
the bigger problem is that this netbook has only 1gig ram. It can get
really slow (thrashing?)

Another problem is that a few applications are not available for XP,
although I ended up with an earlier one by the same guy (and which did
not push a replacement search engine, like I read his current one
does.)

Firefox continues to freeze with too many tabs but I had that problem
in Vista and 10 too.

And Eudora and Forte Agent, totally untied to the version of the OS,
iiuc, are still my workhorses, almost never complaining or even
pausing. Also still working are Radio Maximus, Key Remapper, Skype,
iFree Skype Recorder, Notepad++, Microsoft Office Word 2007 (which
must have come with this netbook when it was new) which I've used a
little, latest version of Firefox, Session Manager (which I stopped
using for reasons of my own), Avast (whose only annoyance I can't stop
is occasionally complaining about the certificate iirc of individual
emails), and Anvir (which patrols the startup programs and keeps new
ones from being added, which allows for delayed startup of startup
programs (which iirc XP had not implemented, but which isn't needed by
me because my list is so short), which monitors RAM and disk temp, cpu
use, RAM use, and internet connectinon, and which does a lot of other
things I haven't figured out yet.) Despite the name Anvir, it's not
an antivirus program.

Last time I used AutoHotKey, but again I had trouble writing the
script** so I just went back to Key Remapper, which is so easy and
this time didnt' say anything about having to pay in 30 days. Maybe I
will have to, but I did't see it.

**(one of the few data files I didn't take with me, because it didn't
let me put it in C:\data where I would find it. Instead I guess it's
buried at home in c:\appdata\user\autohotkey, where I forgot to look.
