Default Microsoft Account in Win 10

Hi all, I realize this is a Win 7 group but cannot access the Win 10
one as I cannot update my newsgroup list.

After installing Windows 10 I have set up my Microsoft Account OK
after many tries and I can now use Cortana OK.

I went to the Store to download an App for Gmail.

I was asked to re-enter my password, but it shows an old email
address, not the one I am logged into for my Microsoft Account.
I have tried using my present password but the Store rejects it :-(

Any thought please on how I can fix this?

It sounds like you're either going to have to log in with the password
for the old email account or switch the email account you're trying to
log into.

If you want to switch to the new email account, when you open "Store",
click on the globe next to the search bar - upper right. If your new
email address is not showing there, click on "settings". On the
settings, page, click on "manage your devices". Then on your Account
page, click on "Your Info". On the next page, click on "manage your
sign-in email or phone number". On the sign in page, select the last
item, "sign in with a different Microsoft Account" & use your new
account's address & password.

I'm kinda wondering what is prompting you.

Is the Store prompting for permission ?

Or has, perhaps, the application been installed,
the App is running, and it scrounged though your
browser cookies to find the old Gmail address ?

It's possible you're mis-interpreting where
the prompt is coming from ? The information
being used, might have been scraped from
something on your hard drive already. You
would need to check the App to see if there
is a place to enter account information.

As a test, you could pretend to be interested
in the "free" (advertising assisted) Win10
Solitaire App, and see if you're prompted
for the same kind of stale information.

Have you tried the sign-out option (sign out of the old) ?
