These days, it might be safe to say that most do, but it's still a good
question to ask. It's best not to assume. Fortunately, this bit of info
is usually disclosed in the product literature and it should be visible
on the power supply itself.

Your comment is true but I had downloaded the User's Guide for the
printer and checked before I posted that note. That model printer
requires 100 to 120V 50/60 Hz.

The OP could add to his cost and buy a transformer.

just choose b/w in print settings.

which printer and how/where are you setting it?

it will normally use a very small amount of colour when set to b/w for
neutral blacks/greys and to keep the heads from clogging, but that
should be negligible.

No, each cartridge comes with a microchip with its
color type imprinted. I have heard of hacking
these though, but this beyond my pay scale.

Follow up. I went with the Brother MFC-J680DW:

print, copy, scan, fax.
paper tray (it is small, but this is a home)
very compact
prints pretty pictures on best to plain paper
no issues printing rich graphics over wireless
Normal print spits a page out in about 5 seconds
Auto Doc feeder fits about 12 pages
easy to use front panel control that are very intuitive
usb, wireless, wired

and the feature both of adore the most. *The cartridges
are change from the front*. No digging around the guts
to try to find them. And the cartridges are large too.
Very, very easy to change the cartridges.

runs in the $150 range.

Customer is tickled and so am I. I would own this
unit myself, although I'd look for a step up with a
larger paper tray.

Thank you for all the help and tips!

When my wife saw the front loading cartridges, she remarked that
when thoughtful things like that are done, other thoughtful things
are also part of the design as well.

But it is twice a expensive as its competitors that blow through
ink, won't print picture properly over the wireless, take an
auto mechanic to change a print cartridge, etc.. You pay for
what you get.

In my business, I can not sell junk: that is what we have costco
and best buy for. I have to stand behind what I sell. So, I will
not sell any el-cheap-o, shave no expense parts. You want cheap
s***, there are a millions of other folks out there that will
gladly oblige you.

I adored this printer. And the lady I sold it to is in her 80's
and was able to install the print cartridges.

I figure out how to install the first cartridge, then I teach
and have the customer install the rest. Apparently, I am the
only one that does that. Go figure... (I am full service.)

Oh it is not expensive in my opinion. Its competitors are $20
cheaper.

Sometimes folks only see the purchase price and not the cost
of ownership or the functionality of the device. This is
a disease I call CABDs (cheap assed buzzard disease). (The

Brand new.
Seems cheaper than US price, wonder why!
The cost of Ink is the most expensive price of the printer.
Yes, if you are selling to customers you have to choose wisely and give
them the best product at a reasonable price and yet make a descent profit.
