Default Clock and date Help

When I run the mouse over the clock the date will pop up.
The problem sometimes I lose that option and it takes a restart to
bring it back.
Are there any ideas on this problem and what would be the fix if any?

It's likely that the date is still popping up but it's hiding behind the
taskbar. This is one of the little quirks of Windows XP that we have all
grown to know and ... no, we don't love it but it's definitely a quirk
that can be quite persistent on some systems. At times a simple logging
off and logging back on will bring back the missing tags.
