I only see the underlines when I press the ALT key. How do I set it up so I

Right click the Desktop | Properties |
Appearance tab | Effects button | UNCheck: Hide underlined letters for keyboard navigation until I press the Alt key | OK |Apply | OK [[Specifies whether to suppress the drawing of keyboard shortcuts (the underlined characters in menus and controls) and input focus indicators (the dotted rectangles around objects), until you actually start using the keyboard to navigate in Windows, generally with the ALT, TAB, or arrow keys.]] -- Hope this helps. Thanks Wesley! I'd found it.
I prefer saying "Control Panel / Display / Appearance / Effects" because I can get there without touching the mouse. (Also, I normally never see the desktop except momentarily when booting up.) Gratuitous comment: Too bad "Hide underlined letters for keyboard navigation" is the default. Is that for aesthetics? I would guess it keeps mouse-holders in the dark about the alternative.
