Default messenger usn journal reader-service

hi,

i am sorry if i am here wrong. however i have a problem with msn
(haha..) so i seek help.
i can't update my old msn because i always get the same error .
"messenger usn journal reader-service (usnjsvc) couldn't be closed.
check if you have admin rights etc".

it seems that the journal service does not even start. i can't even
close or restart it. i am really clueless

i tried to delete it manually, tried to close it with msconfig, and in
the service window. both say under "status" not running or closed but
just will be starting (sorry i don't have an english os)

i am on vista and even with admin rights i can't do anything.

any kind of an answer will be a big help, thx in advance.
