Before you try a new browser, be aware that there seems to be
significant delays along some paths through the Internet during the past
several days. This is affecting some Web sites but not all.

My preferred browser is SeaMonkey from
http://www.seamonkey-project.org/. It has the same internal "guts" as
Firefox -- Web page rendering, Internet interface, secure browsing, etc.
However, Firefox's user interface is gradually being dumbed-down while
SeaMonkey's user interface retains much of what experienced users want
in the way of options and tailoring.

Just add Classic Theme Restorer to Firefox to undumb ;-)

I had the same problems and switched to Chrome. It takes some getting used
to, but I haven't looked back.

The problem with a question like this is that different people have
different opinions and you get opinions, not answers. It's like which
is a better car, a Ford or a Chevrolet.

That said, here's my opinion: Firefox and Maxthon are both very good.

Here's another opinion: lots of people think Chrome is great; I think
it's terrible.

But the good thing about browsers, as opposed to cars, is that
browsers are free. So what I recommend is that you ignore my opinion
and everyone else's. Download and try all the popular browsers
(Firefox, Maxthon, Chrome, Opera, Safari, etc.) and decide for
yourself which *you* like best.

I had the same problems and switched to Chrome. It takes some getting used
to, but I haven't looked back.

The Linux version of Chrome leaves services running in the
background when it closes so it will start faster the next
time you run it. Likely the Windows version does the same
thing. If limited resources are available that could be a
problem. You can turn off that behavior but it is buried
deep in advanced settings.
