If you are really concerned about Windows or your privacy then instead
of simply trawling the web and posting useless, outdated spam links
here, why don't you join Microsoft Insider Team so that you can shape
the Windows experience for millions of people around the world.

Start at this link:

Good luck to you.

I opted out of CEIP during the install of Windows 7. I don't know if it
is a companion telemetry (spware) program but the Help Experience
Improvement Program has been disabled, too, for a long time.

It's title of "Update for customer experience and diagnostic telemetry"
pretty much exposed that it was a spyware and bogus update (to
Microsoft, "telemetry" means one-way communication to Microsoft). So
its description told me that I didn't need it and wouldn't want it.
Since I have CEIP disabled, I don't need an update for a "feature" that
won't be allowed. Microsoft keeps trying to push Skype and other
updates for software that is NOT even installed.

I noticed that I had this update installed. Argh! Must've missed it.
I normally review each update before allowing its download and install.
This one got uninstalled (requires a reboot).

I have been an insider from the 1st preview until I got worried about
keystrokes being sent back to Microsoft. Now windows 10 doesn't exist on
My 3 machines.
Yesterday I was re installing Win 7 on one machine and realized that
after I updated with most updates that I had missed the ones for
Oct.15,2015.So I uninstalled 2 of them.My update list went blank and I
could no longer remove updates. So I disabled windows update and low and
behold I could not manually update Windows defender. Microsoft is worse
than Apple, google, android or any of them about getting your data and
private data. Most of the data I could care less about, but keystrokes
where they can get account numbers etc when I bank concern me. What they
are trying to do is make my computer a cell phone where users that have
no idea what day it is can give them their data. So I really don't care
if anyone uses windows or not because I know that is all they know how
to use and it is their business, but i would be stupid to continue to use
known spyware.

WU is a service. Not just automatic updates uses it. Defender will
also call the WU service to get its updates. So even if you configure
AU to "never notify", Defender can still use the WU service to get its
updates. Apparently that is how the "Get Win10 update" update works,
too.

When the WU service gets called and if there is an update to download
(for Windows or Defender updates or anything else that uses the WU
service), the file is downloaded in the background using the BITS
(Background Intelligent Transfer Service).

So I really don't care if anyone uses windows or not because I know
that is all they know how to use and it is their business, but i would
be stupid to continue to use known spyware.

I will holding off on getting Windows 10 until near the end of its free
license (and then I'll just make an install disc, not actually install
it) or after getting my next new computer (on which Windows 7 will get
installed and I'll use my old computer to do the Win10 upgrade).
However, the more I hear about Windows 10, the more Microsoft is pushing
me to a Linux platform. I had to do a bunch of crap setup in Windows 7
to secure it against Microsoft. Windows 10 is even worse along with
Microsoft's change in EULA and service policies.

Microsoft has apparently turned suicidal.

How? By posting rubbish for users who are mainly trolls here? Please
explain.

You don't see Microsoft Staff here at all. All you see here are people
like Canadian Wolf (small boys abuser), John Doe s (troll who also wants
to troll on YouTube but kicked out from there), drug junkies and
octogenarians who are here to pass time. Now these people are not going
to change this world because nobody takes them seriously.

EXCEPT YOU !!! You seem to be reading all my posts and responding to
them. I am keeping a count of how many times you have read my posts and
you are on the top of the list it seems.

81 years old and still laughing. hahaha

Laughing for what? Are you looking forward to your departure from this
planet within the next few months or what are you laughing about? Old
people do sit quietly alone in a dark cold room and laugh alone so is
this what you are announcing here? Please explain.

Yeah, I know I shouldn't feed it but I enjoy goading it, just to see how
high it can count seeing it only has 3 brain cells.

If by "interesting read" you mean "old news, already discussed here",
then I agree with you.

If there's actually something there that hasn't been discussed, can
you give us a précis, please? Many of us won't click on unknown links
unless we see some benefit to it. Granted, with arstechnica the risk
is probably low, but still ...
