Default Loss of network connection after standby or hibernate

Have you gone into Device Manager and disabled all other networking devices
except the wireless. Sometimes these things bridge, and completely destroy
the LAN.

Is this a clue? When I resume, 'Network Connections' window lists:

Local Area Connection - disabled (I disabled it manually because I don't
use it)

New Connection Wizard

Network Setup Wizard

Wireless Network Connection - enabled (although it doesn't work )

Internet Connection is not listed until after I disable then re-enable
Wireless.

Greetings!

I have a Toshiba M200 TabletPC (WinXP) which came with an 802.11g
wireless card. I connect to a D-Link DI-624 router. If I go to Standby
or Hibernate then resume, I have no wireless network access at all.

To get it to work again, I must disable then re-enable the 'Wireless
Network Connection' via steps below:
1) Go to "View Network Connections" from "My Network Places" or by
right-clicking the wireless network icon in the system tray.
2) Right-click "Wireless Network Connection" and choose "Disable"
3) Wait for it to display the new disabled status (for me, 5-10
seconds).
4) Right-click "Wireless Network Connection" again and choose "Enable"

Is this a problem with settings somewhere in the network
configuration? Does everyone get the same behavior after resuming from
standby or hibernate? For me, it happens every time.

If you don't know the solution, but have an easier way to disable then
re-enable, please do tell.

Default Loss of network connection after standby or hibernate

Hi Chris,

Yes, only two network adapters listed:
Atheros Wireless is enabled,
Intel pro /100 Network Connection is disabled (red x in graphic).

Just for grins, in device manager I checked "show hidden devices" and
then disabled everything except for the wireless network adapter and
its packet scheduler miniport, and all the WAN miniports. I tried
standby, then resumed, but the problem still occurred.

Default Loss of network connection after standby or hibernate

Here is the solution that I use:

Devcon does the trick! I downloaded it from the KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q311272

At the command line I entered:
devcon find pci\*
to list pci devices, and picked out my wireless adapter ID number (it
ends in 168C). So, I use a macro to issue these commands:

devcon disable *168C
devcon enable *168C
Then I am back in business!

Thanks to all for your help,
Teffy
