Problem printing over the network - solved
I've been having a problem printing from my Windows 98 computer to my
Brother HL1450 printer which is connected to the USB port on my Toshiba labtop running Windows XP Pro. The two computers are networked over Ethernet and all the other network functions work just fine. When I try to print, the printer will print only one page (or none at all) of multi-page jobs. Then data light on the printer just stays lit after that and does not print the remaining data in the printer's print buffer (assumably because it did not receive a full page of data or a page-feed). This only occurs when printing from my Windows 98 machine over the network. When I connect the printer directly to the USB port of my Windows 98 machine, everything works just fine. Anyhow, after searching Google Groups, I tried the Microsoft resolution of a print spooler problem (KB810894). I only performed the first step of the recommended process -i.e. I deleted all of the files in 'c:\windows\system32\spool\printers' of my windows XP computer. Then I rebooted my computer. The and Windows recognized my printer and automatically installed the driver and set it up. Everything worked like a charm from then on... |
