Default Network drives access denied in 8.1

Since updating from 8 to 8.1 I have been getting an

"Access is denied"

error when trying look at network drives.

Any ideas?

I first idea is that you should provide a lot more information if you
want useful answers. Like, "network drives" on what kind of machines?
How is your network set up? Homegroups? What do the Event Logs on both
the source and target machines show? Little details like that.

And after you do that, look for someone other than Nildo
to answer your question...

Thanks for replies

I have a laptop running Windows 7 with all necessary permissions set
to allow access from my desktop now running Windows 8.1

Laptop is named "Laptop" and Crive is named LapC

Using Windows Explorer menu item "Map network drives" I set up a
network drive on the desktop to access the C: drive on the laptop
using:-

L: \\Laptop\LapC

and selected:-

Reconnect at sign-in

This worked OK when I had Windows 8 on the desktop but after upgrading
to 8.1 I get the "Access is denied" error when I try to access L:
in a Command window.

I would not know what event logs to look at. Can anyone advise?

Check the file location in the "This PC" in Windows 8.1 It is in the
Computer tab.

Window 8 /8.1 has a very different file arrangement so you have to make
sure you are using the Windows 8.1 directory path.

I took me some messing around with it to get it to see the network drive.

I had a similar problem - could navigate the NAS files but often denied
access. Turns out I needed to add a "credential"

Control Panel User Accounts Credential Manager Manage Windows
Credentials
Add a Windows Credential
