1083 and Avira
I tried to instal 1083 but it stopped and told me I had to uninstal
Avira Antivirus manually as it was an incompatible outdated version (can't remember exact words). Avira has not been on my computer for a long time and a thorough search of all program folders, registry and services found no trace of it. Eventually I found the only way to get 1083 to instal was to download and instal the latest version of Avira. 1083 then installed OK. Then I uninstalled Avira again. Anyone else had this problem? Any other way to get around the problem when I tackle my other computer? -- ---------------- Stubbo of Oz ---------------- |

You better do a clean install of 1803, after backing all your data. In-place upgrade would only complicate things. Anyway, it's YOUR PC, YOUR choice. -- @~@ Remain silent! Drink, Blink, Stretch! That's what you should be using now, to try to ensure the next upgrade cycle doesn't cause a repeat of the symptoms. Google terms: avira removal tool download Now, these guys call their cleaner a "registry cleaner". Pretty weird to have to do this by hand. I couldn't find a better option than this, to help your OS pass the "sniff test". Obviously, something is still on C: ... somewhere. https://www.avira.com/en/support-for...etail/kbid/902 HTH, Paul |
