Default Set Program Access and Computer Defaults

I'm running version 1709, build 16299.371.

I can get to the Control PanelProgramsDefault Programs, as shown he

https://postimg.cc/image/mwjl8k0tz/

If I press any of the links, except for "Change AutoPlay Settings", I'm
taken to the 'new' Windows 10 Default Apps setting page.

To get to the 'older' "Set your default programs", run the command:

control /name Microsoft.DefaultPrograms /page pageDefaultProgram

Anyone know what command I'd run to get to the others? Is it in the
list, here?:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...sktop/ee330741
(v=vs.85).aspx#ProgramsAndFeatures

I'd really like to get to the older Set program access and computer
defaults. I'm trying to resurect the Send link by e-mail in Windows Live
mail 2012. It used to work fine, and is set correctly in the new Default
Apps window, and the URL:Mailto is associated with Windows Live Mail.
There is no SendTo protocol in the new protocol list of settings.

Thanks.

Nice thought, if it worked. But here it just gives a dark grey window
(then a brief flash of another window that automatically closes) with a
huge white cog in the centre ...

Got some here.

"Associate a file type or protocol with a program"

control /name Microsoft.DefaultPrograms /page pageFileAssoc

"Set your default programs"

control /name Microsoft.DefaultPrograms /page pageDefaultProgram

When I tried those on 17334.1, they didn't work.
The expectation is, you're supposed to do it from the new
Settings thing. They tell me this is progress.

There's a folder for SendTo. Holds shortcuts.

Most likely it won't after you get the April update?

Bingo! This was it:
rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL appwiz.cpl,,3

Using this command, I was able to go to the Custom window and change my
default email program from "Use my current e-mail program" to "Windows
Live Mail". I can now "Send link by e-mail". Funny thing, though, is
that if I go back in to the Custom window, the setting has reverted back
to "Use my current e-mail program", from "Windows Live Mail", but, it
still works fine.

Thanks, Paul.

I suspect you're absolutely correct. From this article, written December,
2017:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/...dows-10-a.html

it seems as we "progress" up the versions/buids, less and less of what used
to work perfectly fine, works nomore.

I'm letting the April update come to me rather than going out and grabbing
it. If it's going to be a PITA to get the update to update, I'm not going
to be the one to initiate it.

Thanks.
