Default Win 10 Spring Update

I use SpywareBlaster, so , if any on you use it, I found out that quite a
few items in IE were not protected after I upgraded to the Win 10 1803
upgrade. I just had to enable that (no big deal).
No big deal, but just for those that use SpywareBlaster, be aware
The Win 10 update went well.overall.
It also changed a couple of settings in my OOSU 10 program, so if you use
that program, check it out.
Around 10 min to DL.
Around 30 min for the install
Around 30 min after rebooting to finish the install.
Buffalo4
PS: I do now have a SSD which I'm sure made the process quicker.

Since I did the upgrade this am, my Internet Speed dropped by around 50% and
my PC just seems quite a bit more sluggish.
Was it the update or perhaps, just a coincidence? Stranger things have
happened.
Hope others comment on their results after going to the 1803 'upgrade' .

OK I'll pitch in, My system boots up about 12 seconds faster than before
But I did a Disk cleanup and dumped Windows old so my system was about
39 GB and is now 28 GB so that helped, I did a couple Macrium backups as
soon as I had it all cleaned up.
I can't vouch for running speeds as it seems about the same which was
always plenty quick.
The whole update was quick and painless.

Should have added, my internet speed stayed the same at 178 megabits

Well, my internet speed is now just over 100Mbs where before it was running
around 240Mbs. Probably just Comcast doing what they do best (take your
money and not deliver, and then increase their prices).
Overall no improvement of anything I do on the PC, but 'seems' to lag
sometimes. Might have nothing to do with the update. I made a restore point
before the upgrade but didn't do a real backup.

Restore Point - fried. That's a feature of Upgrades, is the
need to disable restore points, and move to the "Windows.old"
method.

Do a backup next time.

Or, if you want the system approximately as it was before, do
a "revert" which will use Windows.old to put things back.

You do a backup of C: if you want things *precisely* as they
were before. That's why we do backups. It's the precision of it.

That's on my ToDo list, before I fire up the pig.
I'll have to leave the network cable disconnected until
I get a backup done. I can't have it sniffing for upgrades,
before the backup is done :-)

Now wait a minute.... After all that work of using Linux to remove the
properties on a protected windows update file and you upgraded? After all
the responses in the thread, time spent on research with everyone trying to
help you and all the words about how you wanted to stop windows updates -
and you upgraded?

WTF?

Or was it that none of that screwing around actually did any good and you
got automatically updated.

Thanks for that info. I didn't even think about the Restore Point being gone
with the update,
Anyways, my Internet Speed is now back up even a little higher. Must have
been a Comcast problem. Just checked it now and it was just above 300 Mbs;
highest its ever been.
Thanks,

Overall no improvement of anything I do on the PC, but 'seems' to lag
sometimes. Might have nothing to do with the update. I made a restore point
before the upgrade but didn't do a real backup.

OK, just read that the Restore Point is most likely history, but things are
looking up overall.
My Internet speed is now back up, even higher than before. Must have just
been a Comcast problem. I just checked and it is just over 300Mbs. Highest
for me yet.
Thanks for the comments from all.

I use SpywareBlaster, so , if any on you use it, I found out that
quite a few items in IE were not protected after I upgraded to the
Win 10 1803 upgrade. I just had to enable that (no big deal).
No big deal, but just for those that use SpywareBlaster, be aware
The Win 10 update went well.overall.
It also changed a couple of settings in my OOSU 10 program, so if
you use that program, check it out.
Around 10 min to DL.
Around 30 min for the install
Around 30 min after rebooting to finish the install.

PS: I do now have a SSD which I'm sure made the process quicker.

Since I did the upgrade this am, my Internet Speed dropped by around
50% and my PC just seems quite a bit more sluggish.
Was it the update or perhaps, just a coincidence? Stranger things have
happened.
Hope others comment on their results after going to the 1803 'upgrade'
.

OK I'll pitch in, My system boots up about 12 seconds faster than
before But I did a Disk cleanup and dumped Windows old so my system was
about 39 GB and is now 28 GB so that helped, I did a couple Macrium
backups as soon as I had it all cleaned up.
I can't vouch for running speeds as it seems about the same which was
always plenty quick.
The whole update was quick and painless.

:-)

Should have added, my internet speed stayed the same at 178 megabits
per second.

Well, my internet speed is now just over 100Mbs where before it was
running around 240Mbs. Probably just Comcast doing what they do best
(take your money and not deliver, and then increase their prices).

Paul

Thanks for that. I do need to make a backup to my External 500GB HDD.
Letting too many things slip by this last year.
Yes on leaving the Internet Disconnected while doing a full backup--Good
point.
