most of these seem to detect NOT running their ****ed-up tracking
scripts, from what I can tell. So 'NoScript' plugin shows up as an "ad
blocker", which, in many respects, IS true. [it's also a MALWARE
blocker, FLASH blocker, NOISE blocker, ...]

When they pop up and say "you're using an adblocker", there should be
buttons marked "go **** yourself", "I won't use your page then", and "I
can get the content elsewhere you ****ing tosser".

hey, that's a GREAT idea - let's build it into the W3C standard!

There's still a standard?

A scientist from Texas A&M University has invented a bra that keeps women's breasts from jiggling and prevents the nipples from pushing through the fabric when cold weather sets in.
At a news conference announcing the invention, the scientist was taken outside by a group of cowboys, who then proceeded to kick the **** out of him.

Because they request all of the page content except for the ads.

Surely an adblocker should still request the advert and download it,
but just not display it. Then the server wouldn't be any the wiser.

Agreed. I've made that point myself in the recent past. I assume they
weren't initially designed that way because no one thought it would
be a
problem. The game of cat and mouse, however, is starting to prove
otherwise.

problem with downloading is that it takes time and consumes your metered
data. Ad pictures and video can be WAY bigger than the text
you're trying to read.

not to mention all of that ****ED UP SCRIPTING hosted on CDNs, probably
re-loading EVERY! GOD! DAMNED! TIME! you get hit up with their ****ING
AD.

the script is 10 times the content, in many cases. 300k for jquery?
WHAT A LOAD OF ****!

I don't notice 300K on an unlimited 54Mbit fibre line.

wow, you are SO superior to the rest of us who have limited bandwidth,
bandwidth caps, and/or overage charges! /sarcasm

No, most of the UK is superior. WTF is wrong with you backward folk over the pond?

If it comes out of theground easily, it is a valuable plant.
