AV does what it is supposed to do - catch viruses. It never was any
type of cure-all for all types of malware.

I resisted running AV on windows for many years but in the end I had to
give in. My main grump with it now is that they're obsessed with
bundling more and more functionality into AV packages. I just want an
AV scanner!

I'm running something called Webroot at the moment and, by default, it
blocks access to specific websites, such as torproject.org. That's not
AV scanning, it's a third party pushing their preferences on to me.
What's the odds that there's a profit to be made in white/blacklisting
specific sites! The whole web has become a cesspit of commercial
interests.

Don't like Webroot because my experience with it has been that
it "blocks" malware, and is generally not able to detect the
multi-component malware.

Isn't blocking what you want it to do? What's the problem with
that?

Can you just **** off and stop cross-posting to Windows 10 when the OP
never intended to. Your message wasn't posted to Windows 10 NG but
because of your stupidity, you decided to post it any way to spam and
annoy everybody here.

It doesn't clean the offending malware from your computer in
some cases. Instead, it leaves it there running and blocks
network access. The crap then goes into "survival mode" and can
make your computer sluggish or even useless with high CPU
utilization that you can't identify because the running image
has been "masked" from the OS.
