O.T. eBay malware/virus?
I redid it and verified it on Imageburn
although I checked to verify it after the burning but nothing happened. http://i64.tinypic.com/2zrq8u8.jpg http://i67.tinypic.com/2q3r8yx.jpg Robert |

O.T. eBay malware/virus?
Mark Twain wrote:
So how do I proceed to clone the 780 without Disk Image? Robert Look at your picture again. This one. http://i67.tinypic.com/jsft6x.jpg It has a "Clone this disk" under Actions, in the right pane. As long as you can get that right pane to appear, there should be a way. I don't think I have too many copies of Macrium 7.x here. I'm trying to think of a safe place I can put one, without a domino effect. (I try to keep versions in check, so my CDs for them continue to work.) Paul |

This forces the drive to re-initialize and proves the bits of the disc needed for recognition work and so on. Those pictures have the work "Verify" in the text, so yes, it did verify, and yes, there were no mismatches. You have the option of using the Imgburn "Verify" tile if you want to kick off a "Verify Only" operation. You can verify the KRD.iso matches the CD contents right now if you want - without doing a burn. Verify is a read-only operation. Paul |

Macrium "continue to work"? (was: O.T. eBay malware/virus?

The Macrium5 mini-CDs I made on my XP machine (CDs plural as I made a 32- and a 64-bit one) have worked on that XP machine, at least three Windows 7 machines (this 32 and two 64), and a Windows 10 machine. Can you explain what you mean by "domino effect" [in this context], and "continue to work"? (I sense you're not talking about CD-R bit-rot.) -- J. P. Gilliver. If I put Macrium 7 on this machine, while Macrium 6 is on the other machine, the Macrium 6 machine won't want to touch the Macrium 7 backup. The 7 backup won't be open-able by my 6 CDs. I have some amount of mis-alignment as it is. Say, one or two copies of Macrium 5, lots of Macrium 6, no Macrium 7 to speak of. The more versions, the more scenarios where I can't do something when I want to . The more fooling around required. To cycle all the OS drives through and update them, is a bit of work. Not interested. Also not interested in changing them when an opportunity presents itself (big mess of versions floating around). Since the feature set for a user of the free features, isn't really changing, there's no good reason to upgrade. Macrium 7 has removed IMGtoVHD capability, which I also use. That's as good a reason to stick with version 6 as any. Paul |

Ah, you're talking about compatibility between versions; fair enough, I wouldn't expect an earlier Macrium CD to necessarily be able to restore from an image made with a later Macrium. (Though I'd be a bit disappointed if things went the other way either, e. g. a Macrium 6 CD not being able to use an M5-made image.) I have some amount of mis-alignment as it is. Say, one or two copies of Macrium 5, lots of Macrium 6, no Macrium 7 to speak of. The more versions, the more scenarios where I can't do something when I want to . The more fooling around required. But - unless there _is_ backwards incompatibility - I can't see why you'd ever use your M5 CD. To cycle all the OS drives through and update them, is a bit of work. Not interested. Also not interested in changing them when an opportunity presents itself (big mess of versions floating around). Hmm. Not doing it for the sake of it, I can see; but I can't see a _great_ amount of hassle in using a later version when you do an image anyway, which I assume you do _fairly_ often (and I should do more often too). [I take it that' what you mean by "when an opportunity presents itself".] Since the feature set for a user of the free features, isn't really changing, there's no good reason to upgrade. The only one I can think of that _I_ might be interested in is USB3 support; I have M6 stored somewhere, though haven't installed it to make the CDs as I don't have anything USB3 yet anyway (apart from a memory stick which is too small to store an image and I wouldn't on a USB stick anyway). Macrium 7 has removed IMGtoVHD capability, which I also use. That's as good a reason to stick with version 6 as any. Paul -- J. P. Gilliver. O.T. eBay malware/virus?
It turns out I had (2) spare HD's set up
for the 8500. I put the second back in the box and had the other in the external case which is the one I used. So I still have one spare 2TB HD for the 8500. Robert |

I set the Admin Account on the 780 so
that the home page is blank and thought I would do the same to the 8500 but when I tried it didn't take and I tried it several times. I must be doing something wrong. Robert |

But maybe Paul has tried it out, though. And I make this comment in regards to any backup software, including Acronis, which is what I'm using (I have and use two old versions). So I don't think there is a guarantee in compatibilities here. |
