Default my computer is not recognizing the usb ports

I have recently upgraded from Windows ME to XP and my PDA
and digital camera can't connect to my computer. When I
check device manager I notice that the USB controller is
not there. It should be under "other devices" but there
is no such place. HELP!

USB controller should not be under "Other devices". It should appear under
"USB"

Install you chipset drivers and if the chipset is based on a VIA chipset,
install the VIA USB filter.

Load the software and drivers.. hook up the printer to the USB port.. if
your computer does not have physical USB ports, buy a USB card and install
it.. you will need to install SP1a if you haven't already..

SP1a is only required in order to activate USB 2.0 ports. USB 1.1 and 1.0
port drivers are already in XP.

Have you tried to find anything other than a USB 2.0 card recently?
