Finally Found a use for Windows Edge
My ISP (Shaw Cable) gives us account holders a Free streaming TV service
with about 80 popular channels at no charge which can be used on any of our devices, Cellphone, Tablet, TV or computer. Seeing my computer is in my bedroom I decided to install this service on it So instead of tying up my main browsers, Firefox or IE, I installed it to run on Edge as my home page and seeing it requires Adobe flash this works out quite well, One mouse click and I have instant streaming TV with no hassle. So you see Windows Edge does serve one purpose in life. :-) Rene |

Seems they are unwilling to switch from Flash to using HTML5 video for streaming content. The only reason I can think of why they have not yet converted is that they don't plan to expend the resources and instead will let the free service die (because Adobe dropped Flash and the web browsers did, too). However, your cell phone, tablet, and TV probably don't use Windows 10 as the OS, so Shaw really doesn't need to use Flash to deliver that streamed content. What happens when Adobe dumps Flash at the end of 2020? Are you currently using a version of Edge that switched from their EdgeHTML engine to using Google's Blink engine (same on in Chrome)? https://www.computerworld.com/articl...ng-demise.html |

Well seeing it's free I will use it untill its dropped then move on to something Else, Ya can't expect free stuff to go on forever. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/2...-platforms.htm Looks like just over a month when Microsoft switches from EdgeHTML to the Blink rendering engine. The engine is changing. No idea about any other features, like which embedded plug-ins will come with the new version of Edge. Microsoft wanted to disassociate its new Chrome-based Edge from their old Edge and further from Internet Explorer. While they're replacing the "e" icon with something that still looks like an "e" but more like a surf wave, I can't help but snicker that the surf wave is about to crash (fall over). I supposed the wave icon could also be said to look like a "c" to denote the Chrome-based Edge. https://www.theverge.com/2019/11/2/2...-wave-surf-new Maybe a better icon would be falling over the edge (into the Chrome abyss), like: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...ho7_ct3t8HmQ&s or https://media1.tenor.com/images/f53d...itemid=6002411 Here's the rest of us trying to find the perfect web browser: https://media1.tenor.com/images/f53d...itemid=6002411 |
