Intellimouse Explorer
I have an intellimouse explorer and the trackball
optical. The intellimouse works for sometimes an hour, sometimes a few seconds and then will stop working and the error that the usb device has malfuntioned and is not recognized comes up. If I unplug the mouse from the USB port and plug it back in then it will begin working properly again, however as I said sometimes for only a few seconds, sometimes for an hour or so. Most of the time it only lasts about 6-10 min. I've verified that I have the hidusb.sys, hisclass.sys, and hidparse.sys files in my system32/drivers folder so I don't know what the problem could be short of just having a bad mouse...though I dont see why it would work and then just quit working...any ideas? System: XP pro Dell Dimension 8100- Pentium IV 1.7 GgHz 256 MB RDRAM - 800MHz |

Frayed wire. Have you attached it to the PS2 port to see you have problems?
