Google Earth
The other day I mentioned that I could not upgrade a Win7 machine to
Win10 until I first uninstalled Google Earth. Once I got Win10 installed I noticed that there was no version of Google Earth for Win10 and their site directed me to use the Chrome browser and access Google Earth from there. That worked but today I wanted to see if I could get the stand-alone version of Google Earth working in Win10 and see that if I use Google Earth /Pro/ instead, it indeed will work with Win10. I was reluctant to use it because I did not want to pay for the app. but see now they offer it free. |

I rarely use it, mostly I was just experimenting to see how it worked. Plus because several here said the stand-alone version worked with Win10 I had to see for myself. Personally, Google Earth in the Chrome browser does a nice job for me. |

You can download the last version of Non Chrome Google Earth at this URL http://filehippo.com/download_google_earth/ I had Google Earth 7.1.8.3036 running on Windows 10 AE, and when I saw that there may be a problem getting a real version of Google Earth; I downloaded Google Earth 7.1.8.3036 and saved it to my Software folder. You can also get it at this site. https://productforums.google.com/for...ps/tCkY0Fd5_uI -- 2017: The year we lean to play the great game of Euchre |

Just checked and their latest version is two months old, so it seems like development has not stopped. |

Personally, Google Earth in the Chrome browser does a nice job for me. As I stated before. Google Earth Chrome is very fast at what it does, but it doesn't do much. I use the ruler and pushpins a lot, and I don't see either one of them in Google Earth Chrome. I will stick with my Pro version for now. The latest BUILD date for Google Earth Pro is 1/17/2017. That doesn't mean that there is still development going in. I would assume that it gets rebuilt every time they fix a defect, or whenever MS releases a new version of Win10, to make sure it stays compatible. |

I don't care one way or the other if development is still going on or not, all I care about is, "does it work?" , running Google Earth on Win7, Win8.1 & Win10 with no issues whatever.. GE pro runs on Win10 with no problem. also agree with the above, GE Chrome is nice & flashy , but features are not near as good or as usable as the installed GE... Would like to see the images updated in all versions.. Bing Maps can & does present some much better aerials at times... |
