Default Nyone removed HDrive out of External Kit?

Has anyone removed the hard drive out of a Seagate 'Free Agent' external
hard drive kit just to use the hard drive? I bought a deal, ~$95 on a new
750 gb Seagate FA with 5-year warranty from Office Depot, and don't wish to
expose the hd to the heat in that enclosure. I am leaning toward just using
it as an internal hd. Any ideas, pro and con? Thanks, sdlomi2

Only problem that I would see is if the unit is "disassembled" then
they warranty may not be "honoured!" Normally, warranty is on the
complete unit, not just the "main" component.

Good point, if the enclosure has some type of disassembly security sticker
on it, you may void the warranty.
