I've just looked through the target of both of the above links, and not finding it. (One of the discussion points in the first one made the same point [that in all the discussion, a link to a download wouldn't go amiss], and a link seemed to be provided by one of the followups, but that just AFAICS pointed to a variation of the second article.) I'd be happy to manually download it rather than expect it to happen automatically - maybe I might even prefer that; however, ... (-: -- J. P. Gilliver. I'd be happy to manually download it rather than expect it to happen automatically - maybe I might even prefer that; however, ... (-: The reason it's not automated, is the state of the Windows Update file seems to be "frozen" for some of the OSes. I'm not sure they really want to turn on Windows Update to automate those patches, because it will invoke a world of hurt on people using Windows Update on "fresh" installs. For example, it would be fun to use a copy of MBSA 2.3 to detect the missing patches. But if you try that, these recent security ones are likely to be missing. So even MBSA (Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer) won't be able to give useful info in this case (on WinXP at least). So while Microsoft is nominally releasing patches, you'll need to be "Sherlock Holmes" to complete your mission. ******* Try the following: This is a search on the Catalog server for: "security update" "Windows XP" http://www.catalog.update.microsoft....dows %20XP%22 It will tell you there are more than 1000 returned results. Now, click the Last Update column, to re-sort the display so the 2017 entries are at the top. And the top entries should give some hints about what to grab. Paul |

The KB page was confusing me - I thought I had to wade through that to figure out which one of the many patches applied to my system. I didn't understand that I needed to install *all* of them. |

I just got about 10 patches for Office 2007 (auto update), some seem to be on that list. |

Maybe they're prerequisites for some other more recent patch. Or maybe they just want to make sure everybody has it. It's rarely a problem to re-install a patch that you already have. |
